Rhea Clyman was a Jewish Canadian foreign news correspondent when few females performed the role. Accounts of her two car trips, one to the Soviet Far North and the second through the agricultural heartland of the USSR during the Holodomor, were published in forty-four feature articles in The Toronto Telegram from September 1932 to June 1933, with twenty-one appearing on the front page. She was the first western journalist to witness and report the truth about the USSR’s involvement in Ukraine in 1932.
