The Australasian Union of Jewish

The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) is the peak representative body for Jewish students in Australia and New Zealand. Founded in 1948, AUJS is a pluralistic, student-led organisation committed to the values of Judaism, Zionism, Activism and Pluralism. Affiliated with the World Union of Jewish Students, AUJS provides educational, social, political and religious programing across campuses. Through leadership development, community engagement, advocacy and international opportunities, AUJS empowers Jewish students to explore their identity, build lifelong connections, and contribute meaningfully to Jewish life, Israel, and broader society. AUJS operates at national, regional and campus levels through a network of student leaders.

Bnei Akiva Perth is a Modern Orthodox Zionist youth movement at the heart of the Perth Jewish community. It offers weekly activities for students in Years 2–12, biannual camps, and community events, all rooted in the ideals of Torah, Avodah, and Aliyah. Led by local youth leaders and shlichim, Bnei Akiva Perth fosters Jewish identity, leadership, and a strong connection to Israel in a fun and inclusive environment.

CSG

Community Security Group

under the auspices of the Jewish Community Council of WA Inc, is tasked with the oversight of the Jewish Community’s security and emergency management programs and policies.

The CSG is run by a small team of professional staff with many highly trained, committed and dedicated volunteers. These volunteers are tasked with the safety, security and protection of the WA Jewish Community. The CSG motto is “To Protect Jewish Life and The Jewish Way of Life” and it carries out this task in conjunction and consultation with State and Federal Authorities. It advises the community on threats and necessary requirements for Synagogues, Jewish Day Schools, Institutions and Communal Events.

We are an educational institution, providing a comprehensive Jewish studies program for school-aged children and adults, including the Perth Yeshivah and we host Tefilot incidental to our educational objectives.


Habonim Dror

Habonim Dror is a Jewish and Zionist

Habonim Dror is a Jewish and Zionist youth movement that operates throughout Australia, as well as around the world. Our aim is to enrich Jewish identities and create an engagement with Israel for the youth in our community. Through critically analysing the world around us, we strive to empower the youth, providing them with the ability to develop a meaningful Jewish identity that exists in all spheres of life, which is to be used to improve oneself, the Jewish people and the wider world. The unique atmosphere created in the movement has ensured we are one of the largest Jewish youth organisations in Australia. We run weekly programs for Juniors (Years 2-8) on Wednesdays after school and for seniors (Years 9-12) on Sunday evenings. We also run many events throughout the year and have biannual camps in the winter and summer holidays which are always the highlights of the Habo calendar.

JNF Australia’s vision is to ensure

JNF Australia’s vision is to ensure a strong, secure and prosperous future for the land and people of Israel. This vision is the driving force behind every project we undertake. Together, over many decades, we have directly supported life-changing projects for Israel’s border communities. JNF’s vital work is divided into the following areas: Forestry & Green Innovations, Water Solutions, Community Building, Zionist Education & Advocacy, Research & Development, Heritage Sites, and Disabilities & Special Needs. Since October 7th, JNF’s focus has been to help heal and rebuild Israel’s southern and northern communities, with over twenty-five major impact projects funded.

KAWA

The Kashrut Authority of WA

The Kashrut Authority of Western Australia (KAWA) is a non-profit body committed to the enhancement and expansion of all aspects of kashrut. KAWA is the authority that oversees and manages all kashrut-related matters in Western Australia including:

  • Supervision and certification for locally-produced kosher products
  • Supervision and licensing for all kosher caterers
  • Shomrim for the supervision of all kosher functions in Perth
  • Supervises all local shechita and subsequent processing of meat

Assistance and advice is available for all matters relating to kashrut including the koshering of kitchen and utensils, and the provision of information regarding kosher products available at local food retailers. KAWA also distributes updates to the kosher list in conjunction with Kosher Australia which are available on the PHC Facebook page and website.

Kol Sasson is a Sephardi Shule

Kol Sasson is a Sephardi Shule based in the suburb of Menora in Perth and was established twelve years ago. We offer regular services on Shabbat and Chagim, providing a warm and inclusive environment for our community.


MACCABI

Maccabi WA Inc is

Maccabi WA Inc is a not-for-profit volunteer sports club that connects the Jewish community in WA through sport and wellbeing. Part of a global organisation, we welcome both Jewish and non-Jewish athletes. With over 400 members, we offer a range of fitness and sports activities. Our facilities include outdoor ovals, a gymnasium, tennis and netball courts, a multi-use pitch, and the JHub Maccabi Community Centre. Our vision is to promote social connection, active participation, and improved wellbeing through inclusive programs that support physical and mental health and inspire the next generation.


MDA

ambulance and blood bank service

MDA is Israel's ambulance and blood bank service. Funded by donations, MDA saves lives every day by providing Israel’s emergency medical response and ambulance services, managing the national blood bank and providing international disaster aid.

Maurice Zeffert Home

The Maurice Zeffert Home (Inc) is a Not-For-Profit organisation offering a 90-bed aged care facility, 51-unit retirement village, meals on wheels and a day lounge service.

Open since 1961, and employing 140 staff, Maurice Zeffert has always taken pride in providing a high standard of quality care to the Perth Jewish Elders while embracing the richness of Jewish culture and tradition.

Maurice Zeffert is a public benevolent and registered charity for tax deductible donations.

People are encouraged to support Maurice Zeffert through volunteering their time, donating and participating in the Wills and Bequest Program.


NCJW

National Council of Jewish Women

The National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (WA Section) was established in 1929. Our purpose is to make the world a better place by working for the rights of women and children, the aged and physically challenged both in Israel and our own Australian and Jewish communities. Our social groups play an important role for our members as do our affiliates, visiting and volunteering at the Maurice Zeffert Home, as we work closely with agencies within the local Jewish community to assist those in need.

On a national and international level our role has widened. Through ICJW we are represented at the United Nations and UNESCO & The World Jewish Congress. As members of Australian Women’s Coalition, NCJW Australia is the voice of Jewish Women around Australia. In W.A. we are very active and have a voice for our community through, the United Nations Association and W.A. and the National Council of Women. We pride ourselves in our community work, status for women, interfaith activities and hasbara (advocacy) for Israel.

Our Executive Committee is Jennifer Faigenbaum – President, Valerie Frank – Vice President and Sarah Susac – Hon. Treasurer.

PHC

Perth Hebrew Congregation

The Perth Hebrew Congregation (PHC) has been at the heart of the Perth Jewish community for over 120 years and is the oldest and largest orthodox congregation in Perth. The PHC offers a full range of daily tefillah services in the shule as well as a number of religious, communal and cultural functions through the year. An extensive educational program is offered at the shule. The PHC also offers bar and bat mitzvah programs, as well as offering weekly Shabbat services, educational programs and activities for children, teens and young adults.

Perth Hebrew School

For over 100 years, the Perth Hebrew School Inc (PHS) has provided Jewish education to children and families in Perth.

The Perth Hebrew School offers a range of Hebrew reading, Jewish Studies and Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation classes and learning sessions for children from age of 3 years until post Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Classes are taught by dynamic and knowledgeable teachers, under the guidance of Rabbi Lieberman.

The PERTH JEWISH FREE LOAN SOCIETY is a charitable institution that has for over 100 years provided temporary financial assistance in the form of interest free loans to members of the Western Australian Jewish community who cannot otherwise raise the necessary finance for Business assistance, medical expenses, education costs and other pressing household needs and material necessities.

the State Zionist Council of WA

The main object of the State Zionist Council of Western Australia is to uphold and foster the aims of Zionism, which include the unqualified support for the establishment of Israel and its ongoing existence; the strengthening of the State of Israel based upon its fundamental values;the unity of the Jewish people and the centrality of Israel in Jewish life; encouraging Jews to make Aliya; fostering and encouraging support of Zionist youth movements and other Zionist organisations in Western Australia.


Temple David

Temple David is Western Australia’s

Temple David is Western Australia’s only Progressive Jewish Synagogue. Celebrating contemporary Jewish life in WA, with regular and festival services, community facilities and social events. Temple David is more than a synagogue, it is a meeting place for our community. We have several social groups and events, a religion school, adult education classes and several study groups. We are proudly affiliated with The Union for Progressive Judaism.


The Holocaust Institute of WA

The Holocaust Institute of WA

The Holocaust Institute of WA along with Courage to Care provides educational programs which strive to educate all, with the focus on high school students, the lessons of the Holocaust and its history. The Institute aims to foster tolerance and understanding and keep alive the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust. The exhibition, education programs and cultural events encourage broader social and community understanding. The Courage to Care educational outreach program inspires the youth to confront hatred, promote tolerance and to be proactive citizens in the face of adversity. The institute is located in the Jewish Centre and is staffed by volunteers. The institute welcomes schools and other groups, by appointment only. Courage to Care is a mobile exhibition which is mounted at different locations throughout the year and welcomes school and other groups by appointment only.


THE MACCABEAN

The Maccabean Newspaper

Published weekly for over fifty years, The Maccabean Newspaper is WA's independent Jewish newspaper, available in hard copy and electronically.

The Maccabean reports on Jewish community activities, featuring regular contributions from community members which bring the community together by inviting reader engagement. The paper also provides convenient round-ups of international news of Jewish interest together with news from within Israel. It advocates for maintaining and encouraging a vibrant Jewish identity in Perth and is wholeheartedly Zionist in its views. As the glue that binds WA Jews together, it continues to be an integral part of Jewish life in Western Australia.


The Menora Foundation

(Inc Jewish Care WA)

The Menora Charity Fund Inc. is an Australian registered charity which provides a wide range of both financial and other services to assist the needy Perth Jewish individuals and families. The main focus is on crisis support in providing food and assisting to meet general budgets (rent, medical, utilities, car expenses etc). Menora also assists with seeking employment and job training courses. There are no paid employees and Menora is completely reliant on volunteers and the generosity of donors. Menora has a purpose-built warehouse behind the Jewish Centre where many charitable initiatives are run and where the volunteers sort donated goods for fundraising purposes.


UIA

UIA engages the Jewish community

Keren Hayesod (UIA) is one of four national institutions responsible for raising funds in support of Israel’s national priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister’s Office and in collaboration with The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Israeli government.

In Australia, UIA engages the Jewish community to support initiatives in Israel, focusing on areas such as aliyah (Jewish immigration), absorption of immigrants, at-risk youth, care for the elderly, and victims of terror through partnerships with organizations like Amigour, Youth Futures, and Net@. Additionally, UIA organises missions to Israel, offering participants a direct and meaningful understanding of its projects and the country’s challenges.


WA Jewish Ex Service

Men and Women

The Jewish Ex-service Men and Women conduct memorial services including Anzac Day throughout the year.

All Jewish ex-service men and women are eligible to join as full members if they have served for six months or more in the full-time, national service or citizen’s forces of any country that was not an enemy of Australia.

Associate Members (without service) are welcome to join WAJEX. It is important that the sacrifices of Jewish Service Men and Women is never forgotten and is passed on to the next generations.

WIZO has been serving the people of Israel for 105 years, with support from a global network fundraising in 38 countries, empowering individuals, strengthening families, and helping build a more compassionate and inclusive Israeli society.
